Bio/Description

Hello, I'm Francisco! I'm a junior from Wingdale, NY studying Comparative Literature with a certificate in Philosophy. Outside of class, I am involved in Intramural soccer, Religious Life Council, and English Language Program.

My first lecture at Princeton, given by Professor Yair Mintzker, the Head of Yeh College, is my favorite memory from my first year at Princeton. I don't remember at what point in the lecture, but I felt that listening to Professor Mintzker uncover different threads in the Iliad was the right thing for me to be doing. I felt that I was in the right place at the right time. It's a feeling I hope for with every new class, and a feeling I hope every student gets to feel at least once in their time at Princeton.

Without a doubt, the Princeton class that continues to impact the way I think is the Western Humanities Sequence, HUM 216-219. The Humanities Sequence is a course designed for first-year students that extends across two semesters. It's an intensive course in the humanities and a strong introduction to the Western canon. My favorite aspect of the class was the strong community that the students built around the texts we read. We got the chance to get to know each other in precept and in trips abroad the following Fall and Winter. The community around the Humanities Sequence, which extends beyond your year of study, is unlike any academic community I've ever been a part of.

I consider myself an expert with going to Office Hours and reaching out to professors for help and conversations outside of class. I want incoming Yeh first-years to know I'm here to help: please reach out with any questions you may have.
